Police arrest Hempstead man in fatal Carle Place hit-and-run

CARLE PLACE -

A Hempstead man has been arrested in a Carle Place hit-and-run that killed a 68-year-old woman this morning. 

The incident occurred at 5:25 a.m. on Glen Cove Road near Westbury Avenue. 

According to a police release, Jose Monterroso, 57, was driving north in his Toyota when he struck Myung Park, of Westbury, who was crossing the street. 

Monterroso is accused of fleeing the scene and failing to properly notify police. 

According to the release, Monterroso returned to the scene during the police investigation and was placed into custody without incident. 

He was charged with leaving the scene of a fatal auto accident.
