PATERSON -

Authorities in Paterson are searching for a woman seen on video acknowledging a security camera while stealing Christmas trees off a home’s porch.

The victim Tuesday shared the surveillance video of the incident with News 12 New Jersey

In the footage that was recorded Sunday morning, the woman is seen unplugging two decorative Christmas trees sitting on each side of the home’s doorway. She stops briefly to shrug and then later wave at the security camera before carrying both trees off the porch.

The homeowner said the woman then got into a taxi and left the area with both trees, which are valued at about $50 each, plus added decorations.

The victim said after seeing the footage, she immediately filed a report with Paterson police, who are investigating the theft.

The homeowner said the woman in the video was outside her home the night before the theft, pacing back and forth in front of the porch and appearing intoxicated.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Paterson police at 973-321-1111.
