Woman gets up to 12 years in fatal Shirley gas station crash

A woman convicted of driving drunk and high on drugs and then killing a woman in Shirley was sentenced to six to 12 years in prison.
Renee McKinney, of Mastic, pleaded guilty to driving high in January and plowing into a Shirley gas station.
The crash pinned 62-year-old Rosalie Koenig between the gas pump and her car. Koenig died from her injuries.
Police had to resuscitate McKinney with Narcan when they arrived at the scene.
Blood tests show McKinney was high on fentanyl and cocaine and had alcohol in her system.
In court today, McKinney took full responsibilities for her actions. Before she was sentenced, she said she was filled with sadness and sorrow.
McKinney vowed to continue her drug rehabilitation and emerge from prison one day a better person. Her lawyer said she wanted the judge to know she wasn't a monster and the crash was accidental, not malicious.
