In honor of its 78th year, the Stamford Model Railroad Club is opening its doors to the public for the next two Saturdays.

The club, containing several thousands of feet in model train tracks, is located in the basement of St. John’s Church in downtown Stamford, across from the Stamford Fire Department.

Members tell News 12 Connecticut that the model train stations depict scenes that mimic real life, portraying train riders chatting and even a dog biting the pants off a mailman.

Several of the members say they have been modeling the railroad since their childhood years.

“This has been a slow evolution from a little circle of trains in a corner,” says one of the club’s members. “To filling up the entire basement as you see it now.”
