Bridgeport police say they've arrested a 53-year-old man in the city's 20th homicide this year, a shooting that left a teen dead on the side of the road.
Lonnie Mebane faces a murder charge in the Sept. 14 slaying of Eric Diaz, 19.
"We're happy that the wheels of justice are rolling," said Edwin Diaz, the victim's uncle. "We can sleep a little easier at night knowing that this guy got caught."
Police say Mebane shot Diaz in the stomach and left him for dead around 10 p.m. at Beardsley Street and Newfield Avenue in the city's East End. A day later, Bridgeport Police Chief AJ Perez pledged the department would not rest until making an arrest.
Police found Mebane at his home Wednesday night on Masarik Avenue in Stratford.
He's being held on a $1 million bond. He's due back in court later this month.
