ICE has announced a major roundup of undocumented immigrants on Long Island.
The United States Immigration and Customers Enforcement says it arrested 25 people in places across the island, including Patchogue, Ronkonkoma, Riverhead and Hempstead.
The six-day period was called “Operation Secure Streets,” officials say.
According to officials, 24 of the 25 were convicted of motor vehicle violations while under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
Among those arrested is a 40-year-old Salvadoran man who officials say is an MS-13 gang member.
Some of the suspects have been previously deported and will be immediately removed from the country.
