Police: Pair caught carrying fake credit cards, large amount of money in Fairfield

Police in Fairfield say an alert from a witness led them to a pair of men carrying fake credit cards and a large amount of money.
According to police, they received a call after someone saw the two men, Yuri Hamlet and Roman Shlyakis, dressed in black, wearing hats and sunglasses, using the ATM at Patriot National Bank on Black Rock Turnpike.
Officers pulled the two over a short time later and found several fake "green dot" Visa cards and the money.
“It is a pretty sophisticated scheme, but it’s pretty easily traced especially if we catch the suspects in the act it’s pretty easily traced because they see that withdrawals going one after another and their pulling as much money out as they can each transaction," says Lt. Robert Kalamara.
News 12 is told most of the money stolen has been recovered.
Both Hamlet and Shlyakis were arrested on multiple charges and scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior court later this month.
