Baumann Bus Company and its drivers headed back to the bargaining table Tuesday night as a strike impacting four LI school districts goes on.

For the second day in a row, hundreds of Nassau county school bus drivers hit the picket line.

Baumann Bus Company drivers, attendants and mechanics rallied at the yard in Oceanside Tuesday morning.

As News 12 has reported, they went on strike Monday morning after months of failed contract negotiations.

Employees say they would rather be working. 

"It's unfair because I'm committed to this job. I come here, I do what I have to do, I even do extra work to help this company," says three-year employee Courtney Griffin. "I even make sure I get to work, pick up the kids fast enough, drop them off to school so they won't get fines. Now it's like they kicked me in my back."

Transport Workers Union President John Samuelson says workers are battling for higher wages, more sick days and a guaranteed five-day work week. 

The strike affects an estimated 20,000 students in the Baldwin, Freeport, Hicksville and Rockville Centre school districts.

The union says it is willing to pull an all-nighter at the negotiating table as long as there is progress in the talks.
