Sunday marked the five-year anniversary of Superstorm Sandy.
The storm slammed ashore on Oct. 29, 2012, devastating coastal communities on Long Island and in New Jersey.
Sandy caused billions of dollars in damages, spawned widespread power outages and led to crippling gasoline shortages. The storm destroyed countless homes and businesses.
Many Long Island residents are still struggling to rebuild.
