Three people are facing charges in connection with a fentanyl bust in Mastic Beach.
Suffolk police say they executed a search warrant on Edwards Avenue in Mastic Beach Friday evening, seizing 725 grams of fentanyl.
Suffolk Police Commissioner Tim Sini says that's more about 1.1 million doses of the powerful opioid.
"That saves thousands and thousands, potentially hundreds of thousands of lives," says Sini.
Police say Corey Robinson, Daequane Rickenbacker and Thomas Moore were arrested. They say one of the suspects released a pit bull, who charged at detectives - who fired two shots at the dog. It was treated at a local animal hospital.
The commissioner says the fentanyl was shipped to the United States from China.
