The Suffolk County Police Department is mourning the loss of one of its chaplains.

News 12 has learned that Father Hugh Cannon passed away Monday at the age of 78. 

There is no word on the cause of death, but Father Cannon reportedly suffered a fall just days prior.
 
He was ordained in 1966 and served in parishes across Long Island.
