An Uber driver had a close call in Bethpage Saturday morning after his car got stuck on the train tracks and was hit by an oncoming Long Island Rail Road train.
Hugh James, of Copiague, says he got stuck after either something fell off his Honda Accord or something got wedged underneath. He says he tried to move the car but that it wouldn't budge. When he saw the westbound train, he got out and ran.
"I tried to signal the train, he could not see me…It was a mess," James tells News 12.
The LIRR was able to remove the crushed car, but it severely delayed the morning commute on the Ronkonkoma branch.
James said the incident shook him up, but he's happy to be alive.
The LIRR says MTA Police are investigating the accident.
