Lynbrook to appoint new mayor to serve until March special election

Lynbrook was expected to get a new mayor Monday to serve until a special election in March.
Lynbrook's deputy mayor, Alan Beach, was expected to be sworn in as mayor at the village's regular board meeting Monday night.
Beach is a 35-year village resident and a retired New York City fire lieutenant.
Mayor Bill Hendrick died of complications from a heart attack earlier this month. He had been mayor of the village since 2011.
