New details have emerged about a plan to build an arena at Belmont Park.

The co-owner of the New York Islanders told Newsday that the proposed site would be near Belmont's LIRR station.

Currently that train station is only open part-time when racing is in season. If the plan goes through, Belmont's LIRR station would need to operate on a full-time basis.

The goal is to have the proposed arena host 150 events a year, including Islanders games.
