A Manhattan real estate developer who killed his friend in a drunken driving crash was sentenced Tuesday to three to nine years in prison.
Sean Ludwick pleaded guilty in August to crashing his Porsche convertible into a pole in Sag Harbor in 2015. At the time of the crash, his blood alcohol level was at least two times the legal limit.
Paul Hansen, 53, of Sag Harbor, was a passenger in the car and died. Police say Ludwick removed Hansen's body from the car and left it on the side of the road, just a few feet from Hansen's home, where Ludwick's son was having a sleepover with one of Hansen's sons.
A few months after his arrest, while out on bail, Ludwick was caught in Puerto Rico allegedly trying to buy a boat to flee to Venezuela.
Ludwick apologized Wednesday to Hansen's family, saying that he was very sorry for what he had done. He said he took took full responsibility for the incident, and said that he would have to live with the consequences of his actions for the rest of his life.
