Long Islanders cast their vote in some key local races Tuesday.

Legislator Laura Curran claimed victory over Comptroller George Maragos in the Democratic primary for Nassau County executive.

Councilman Ed Wehrheim beat longtime Town Supervisor Pat Vecchio by about 40 votes in the Republican primary for Smithtown town supervisor, but Vecchio expects a recount.
