Some four-legged victims of Hurricane Harvey are now on Long Island after being saved from the destruction in Texas.
Volunteers at the Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons are caring for the pets. Officials say about 60 cats and dogs are being housed at the shelter and at two other shelters in the area.
All of the dogs and cats were rescued from areas devastated by Harvey.
Last week, the Animal Rescue Fund sent a six-person team to Austin where they picked up the pets. Shelters in Texas needed room for the large influx of cats and dogs from the hard-hit areas.
Officials say all the pets must be medically cleared before they can be adopted. Their pictures will be listed on shelter websites as they become available.
