Veteran Jones Beach lifeguard named lifeguard of the year

JONES BEACH -

A veteran lifeguard at Jones Beach is being credited with saving more than 1,000 people.

Cary Epstein has been awarded a proclamation to celebrate his newest title, New York State's Lifeguard of the Year.

Epstein has been at it for 20 years and says he doesn't plan on stopping any time soon.

Epstein is also an EMT at the Hewlett Fire department and teaches CPR.
