Authorities say eight people were arrested after a house raid in Inwood rendered drugs and a weapon.
According to detectives, a search warrant was executed at 24 Clinton Ave. at 5:52 a.m. Tuesday.
Police say they found a .38 caliber handgun hidden in a hole in the roof, three dozen ziplock bags of marijuana, marijuana seeds and two large buckets that contained marijuana plants on the roof.
Peter Sanford, one of the eight suspects, was found in a car in the driveway of the home. Police say Sanford was in possession of an entire ziplock bag full of orange gummy candies that contain marijuana.
Police say the handgun belonged to 20-year-old Caine Abel-Bey. According to court documents, Abel-Bey told police, "The weed in my room is mine. I’m not trying to get anyone in trouble."
The Town of Hempstead Animal Control also had to assist with two loose pit bulls on site. They were taken to an animal shelter.
The town's Buildings Department declared that the home was "unlivable" and boarded it up.
Abel-Bey was held on $3,000 bond at his arraignment Wednesday. The others will face a judge in September.
