News 12 Long Island has learned that Long Island is getting four more medical marijuana dispensaries.

The move comes as the number of companies that can produce medical marijuana doubles in New York State.

The State Health Department is now allowing 10 companies to manufacture and dispense the drug to patients with certain conditions. It's part of a push to improve patient access.

Officials say Nassau and Suffolk counties will each get two new dispensaries, but the locations are not yet known.

Long Island already has a dispensary in New Hyde Park and another in Riverhead.
