Authorities are trying to track down the thief being a violent robbery outside the Roosevelt Field mall.

It happened near the grand entrance parking lot around 10 p.m. Friday.

Police say the male victim was walking back to his car when the suspect came up, placed a sharp object against his neck and demanded his gold chain.

The robber also took off with the victim's shopping bags.
