Police: Animal parts found along Southern State Parkway

MALVERNE -

State police tell News 12 that the remains found along the Southern State Parkway this morning were animal.

Sources had earlier told News 12 the remains were reported to be a body.

State police say they received a call from a Department of Transportation worker who was at the westbound ramp of the Southern State at Exit 17 and reported a foul smell.

It is unknown how many animals or what type of animals were found.

Residents in the area have been reporting a foul odor since this morning.
