Police arrest man accused of LI gym locker room robberies

A Bronx man is accused of stealing more than $165,000 in cash and jewelry from gym lockers on Long Island.
Police say Alberto Gil, 55, used a pseudonym to become a member at the Lifetime Fitness Athletic Club in Garden City. They say over the last year and a half, Gil used special tools to break into member's lockers.
Gil also allegedly stole jewelry and cash from lockers at the LA Fitness in New Hyde Park.
Nassau detectives say they were able to identify Gil and arrest him by cross-referencing all of the members who had checked in around the time of the burglaries. They say Gil's fake name kept coming up.
Police recommend not bringing anything of value into a gym or even leaving it in a car parked outside.
