PORT JEFFERSON -

A Suffolk County dog is making national headlines after a video went viral of the animal rescuing a deer in Port Jefferson Harbor.

Mark Freeley, of East Setauket, was walking with his dog Storm to Pirates Cove from Centennial Park Sunday morning when Storm noticed something in the water.

Freeley says Storm jumped in and pulled out a baby fawn.

According to Freeley’s Facebook page, he says he called an animal rescue and the fawn was taken to a vet to get checked out.  The fawn is expected to be OK.
