A routine traffic stop in Brentwood ended with a chase, a crash and a neighborhood search Friday afternoon.
The Suffolk Sheriff's Office says they pulled over a Ford Taurus for speeding and running a red light. When they approached the car, they say it sped off – eventually crashing onto the front lawn of a home on Indiana Avenue occupied by a 95-year-old woman.
Witnesses say three people in the car made a run for it. One of the suspects, a woman, ran into the 95-year-old's home and locked herself in a bedroom. Eventually, she ran out the back door and tried to hide in a neighbor's shed. The neighbor then tipped off police to her whereabouts.
All three suspects are in custody.
Police say the damage to the home was limited to some of the siding.
