Overpass renamed in honor of fallen soldier from Oakdale

A fallen soldier from Oakdale was honored in his hometown Saturday.
The overpass on the Sunrise Highway near Oakdale Bohemia Road was renamed after Army Specialist Matthew Baylis in a special ceremony.
The 20-year-old was killed in action by enemy fire in Baghdad just over 10 years ago after he saved the lives of four of his comrades.
Sunrise Highway was temporarily shut down Saturday to allow Baylis' family and those attending the ceremony to go under the overpass and see the sign for the first time.
