Hateful symbols have been found spray-painted on multiple houses of worship in Suffolk, according to officials.
Authorities say all of the damage was done sometime between 9:30 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. Saturday.
Pastor Walter Willie, of the Prayer Tabernacle Church of God in Christ in North Amityville, says he discovered a pentagram scrawled on the side of the building around 6 p.m. Saturday.
On Sunday, detectives from the Suffolk County Police Department's Hate Crime Section were out speaking with pastors at three other churches that were marked with pentagrams and, in some cases, the words "Hail Satan."
At the Shaw Temple AME Zion Church on Albany Avenue, detectices say the graffiti was scrawled on the front door.
Investigators say that some of the churches that were targeted did not have working security cameras.
Church leaders at the Amityville Full Gospel Tabernacle say they plan on installing new cameras. Bishop William Walker says his congregation worked together to scrub and sand away the hateful symbols.
