It's a minivan miracle. A handicap-accessible van stolen from a home in Hempstead last month was found in East Meadow without any damage.
Police say it was found by a good Samaritan who called authorities.
"Amen! I can't believe it," says Claire Helfenbein, who uses a wheelchair. She told police last week that the 2007 Chrysler Town & Country had been modified so she could transport her son, who has autism.
Helfenbein told News 12 that the van, which she nicknamed "Lucky" prior to the theft, is in great shape and is an enormous part of her life.
Police say the van was taken some time between 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 20 and 11 a.m. the next day. They are asking anyone with information to call Nassau Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
