Report: Town official owes $30,000 in back taxes

The supervisor of Babylon's Department of Public Works owes more than $30,000 in back property taxes, according to a new report.
The story by Newsday says Charles Gardner's debts date back four years, and include outstanding town, county and school taxes.
Gardner says the delinquencies are an "oversight," and says he plans to take out a loan to pay them back.
Gardner has worked for the village since 1968.
