Police raid alleged Ronkonkoma drug den with int’l ties

RONKONKOMA -

State troopers, local police and federal agents say they seized a large stash of drugs in Ronkonkoma Thursday from an alleged drug den with international ties.

Authorities arrested 36-year-old Lawrence Ross for allegedly using his uncle's Ocean Avenue home as a drug drop to accept packages of narcotics shipped by air freight from overseas. Investigators say the drugs came from the Netherlands, Germany and China.

Police say Ross was reselling the drugs on the streets of Long Island and out of state.

They say authorities began investigating Ross about two weeks ago, after a Homeland Security dog reacted to a package addressed to Ross. State troopers, Suffolk police, postal and Homeland Security agents raided the house and reportedly found Xanax, cocaine, marijuana and ecstasy with a street value of over $5,000.

Court records show Ross has five cases involving weapons and drug charges pending against him. He now faces a slew of new drug charges in connection with his latest arrest.
