A man was shot twice on his Greenlawn porch early Wednesday morning where he was sitting with his teenage cousin.
Police say when they arrived at the home, they found Omar Fuentes, 30, shot twice in the hip. His injuries are not life-threatening.
Police say Fuentes is not in a gang and that they are still investigating the motive of the shooting. His 16-year-old cousin, however, told News 12 that the shooters were members of MS-13.
When asked why he thinks MS-13 would shoot at him and his cousin, he said he had many friends in the 18th Street Gang – a main rival of MS-13. After the cousin spoke with News 12's Eileen Lehpamer, he walked away flashing a gang sign behind his neck. Gang experts say it was the sign for the 18th Street Gang.
Police say the shooter fled the scene down Broadway. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS
