SMITHTOWN -

A boat became dislodged from its trailer in the westbound lanes of the Long Island Expressway Saturday evening, smashing into the highway's central divider.

Police say the 30-foot boat fell off the trailer in the westbound lanes near Exit 56 just before 7 p.m.

The boat, which was being towed by a pickup truck, had not been properly secured, police say.

No one was hurt.

The pickup truck driver received several tickets.

Some westbound lanes were closed for several hours as crews cleared the scene.
