Dozens participate in Nassau Youth Police Academy

Young Long Islanders got the chance on Saturday to learn what it takes to become police officers.

Dozens of students took part in the Nassau Police Department's Youth Police Academy. 

The event, which started in 2007, was held at the police academy in Massapequa Park.

It exposes kids to everyday police work and aims to establish a positive relationship between the police department and young adults.
