Dozens of residents came together at the North Massapequa fire department last night to learn how to administer the potentially life-saving drug Narcan.
Fire officials say the addiction problem in the area is only getting worse.
According to officials, in the last six months they have responded to 12 overdoses in the community.
The commissioner announced the opening of what he calls a "no stigma zone."
Anyone battling a drug addiction can go to the North Massapequa firehouse on Hicksville Road and get information on rehab and counseling. It is anonymous.
