Report: Record number of Nassau residents challenge tax assessments

<p>According to Newsday, nearly one out of five Nassau homeowners who did not appeal assessments in the past filed this year.</p>

News 12 Long Island has learned a record number of Nassau County residents  are challenging tax assessments for the first time.
According to Newsday, nearly one out of five Nassau homeowners who did not appeal assessments in the past filed this year.
First time tax challenges have jumped from 6,000 to over 26,000.
Residents who fail to file appeals are expected to "absorb" larger property tax hikes as a result.
