WEST SAYVILLE -

A person was fatally struck by a Long Island Rail Road train in West Sayville Friday afternoon, MTA officials say.

The incident happened near Cherry Avenue around 2:30 p.m. LIRR service was halted for several hours between Babylon and Patchogue, but has since been restored.
