HUNTINGTON STATION -

A Walt Whitman High School teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student pleaded not guilty in court Friday.

Brian Dreher, 41, is charged with rape, criminal sex act and endangering the welfare of a child. He was arrested Thursday at his Huntington Station home, where News 12 cameras saw empty beer bottles and cans littering the front stoop.

The South Huntington School District superintendent released a statement that says Dreher was put on administrative leave and will be restricted from campus throughout the ongoing investigation.

An order of protection was also issued by the court barring Dreher from contact with the female student.

Dreher's attorney says his client intends to "seriously defend the charges."

Suffolk police are asking anyone who may have information on the case to call the Special Victims Squad at 631-852-6531.
