Police: Pedestrian struck, killed in Copiague

Police are investigating a crash that killed a pedestrian in Copiague on Thursday night.
According to police, Luis Guzman Hernandez, was driving west on Sunrise Highway when he struck an unidentified male pedestrian at the intersection of Bethpage Road.
The pedestrian, who was pushing a shopping cart, was in the roadway when the crash occurred, police say.
The pedestrian, identified as Constantino Tejada, 52, of Copiague, was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Guzman Hernandez, 18, was not injured and received a summons for violation of a learner’s permit restriction.
