Ride for Life: Chris Pendergast leads 20th Annual ALS Ride for Life

NEW YORK -

He was told he had three years to live - 24 years ago. A Miller Place man decided to spend whatever time he had left fighting to raise awareness and money to find a cure for ALS.

News 12 Long Island's Elizabeth Hashagen and Photojournalist Brian Jingeleski follow Chris Pendergast as he headed to Washington, D.C. in the 20th anniversary of "Ride For Life."

Since it started, 77 patients who took part in "Ride for Life" lost their battle with ALS. 

About 15 new people are diagnosed with ALS every day in America.
