$300K secured for STRONG Youth anti-gang group in Suffolk

Assemblyman Phil Ramos announced funding Thursday that will go toward keeping kids away from gangs. 

The assemblyman says $300,000 in funds have been secured for STRONG Youth. The organization aims to give Long Islanders alternatives to gangs. 

The money is expected to go toward setting up a permanent group storefront in Brentwood, Central Islip and Bay Shore.

The money was secured in this year's state budget.
