A Montauk fisherman's amazing story of survival is the subject of a new book.

"A Speck in the Sea" details what happened when John Alridge fell overboard in the middle of the night 40 miles off Montauk.

The book details how Alridge survived by using his boots as floatation devices. Once the co-owner of his boat Anthony Sosinski realized he was missing, he was able to estimate where Alridge fell overboard.

The Coast Guard eventually found him. The book comes out May 23.

"Had some sharks around me at night. I fought for my life basically for 13 hours that day," says Alridge.
