Angry residents rallied today over Verizon cellphone towers that were recently put up feet from their homes in Woodbury.
The cellphone towers began springing up on several streets in the Town of Oyster Bay and are designed to improve service for Verizon customers in the area. However, residents say they were never notified about the construction.
Residents tell News 12 they are concerned about the towers’ radiation, aesthetics and potential loss of property value.
Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor Joe Saladino showed up at the rally today and said he halted all construction permits for the towers and will try to prevent future ones from being built.
Neighbors say they are pleased with the news from the supervisor, but will believe it when they see the towers gone.
