WOODBURY -

A coastal storm dumped a few slushy inches of snowfall on Long Island Saturday, marking the first significant snow of the season.

A winter storm warning was issued for northern and western areas of Suffolk County, while a winter weather advisory was issued for Nassau County and the South Fork of Suffolk.

News 12 meteorologists say the snowfall is tapering off across Long Island this evening. Overnight hours will bring cloudy skies with some flurries around.

Watch for icy conditions: low temperatures around 30 degrees overnight could lead to freezing on the wet roadways.

For Sunday, sunny skies will develop but watch out for icy conditions early. Highs will be around around 40 degrees, but winds of 10-20 mph will make it feel colder.

Monday will bring a mix of sun and clouds, and the next chance for snow arrives on Tuesday, which could see scattered snow showers.
