Newsday: Barclays Center, Islanders talk possible opt-out

According to Newsday, the company that runs the Barclays Center has told the Islanders it wants to renegotiate their lease.
Both sides have until Jan. 1, 2018 to reach a new deal or the sides could opt out. The move would leave the Islanders free to re-locate.
The new development could be one of the first steps of possibly bringing the team back to Long Island.

If the Barclays Center opted out, then the Islanders would have to leave after the 2018-2019 season, according to Newsday.
