Athletes take part in Long Island Marathon

Runners had near-perfect conditions for the 26.2-mile Long Island Marathon Sunday.
Participants lined up along Charles Lindbergh Boulevard near the Nassau Coliseum, made their way up and down the Wantagh Parkway and finished at Eisenhower Park.
Organizers say over 650 runners laced up their sneakers for the full marathon, while thousands of others participated in the half marathon.
Nassau police say they took measures to ensure the safety of the over 5,000 runners in the race.
New York City’s Danya Perry, 45, won the women's division, and 35-year-old Timothy Milenkevich, of Connecticut, finished first in two hours and 45 minutes.
Malverne's Peter Hawkins continued to dominate the wheelchair push rim division in the marathon.
