HICKSVILLE -

Police officers gathered in Hicksville Saturday to honor fallen heroes.

The ceremony was held at Police Plaza to commemorate 80 officers who died in the line of duty in 2016.

Police, friends and family placed flowers at a memorial wall during the yearly ceremony, sponsored by the New York State Fraternal Order of Police.

The wall lists more than 1,200 fallen officers.

The ceremony also honored law enforcement officers who have died of Sept. 11-related illnesses.
