Police: Drunken driver slammed into parked cars, pole

An alleged drunken driver was arrested after crashing his pickup truck in Farmingville.

Police say 24-year-old Matthew Davis was drunk behind the wheel when he lost control of his vehicle on North Ocean Avenue around 1 a.m. Saturday.

Davis crashed his truck into a pole, two parked cars and a tree.

Megan Roughan, of Southampton, owns one of the cars that was hit. She says she was out celebrating a friend's birthday and later returned to find her car seriously damaged, while Davis was taken away in handcuffs.

Davis is charged with driving while intoxicated. Prosecutors say he admitted to police that he had a few beers earlier in the evening.

In court Saturday, Davis and several family members declined to speak to reporters following his arraignment. Davis is due back in court in May.
