Police: Another Carvel shop robbed at knifepoint

A masked robber held up an ice cream shop at knifepoint in Lake Ronkonkoma Saturday night, and police are investigating whether the case is linked to a serial robber who has been targeting eateries on Long Island.

According to officials, the Carvel on Ronkonkoma Avenue was robbed around 9:20 p.m. Saturday.

Surveillance photos obtained exclusively by News 12 show the masked suspect behind the counter with an employee.

Police say no one was injured.

As News 12 previously reported, two other Carvels, a Dunkin' Donuts and a Subway restaurant were robbed by a masked man armed with a large kitchen knife or machete over the last six weeks.

Suffolk police say there is no information at this point that links Saturday's robbery to any active pattern, but it remains under investigation.

Anyone with information is urged to call Suffolk Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
