Fire guts recently sold home in East Northport
A raging fire tore through a recently sold East Northport home early Sunday morning, leaving a charred frame in its place.
The flames engulfed the two-story house on Elmbark Lane around 2 a.m. Officials say it took about an hour to get the flames under control.
News 12 is told no one was at the home at the time of the fire and that there were no injuries.
Neighbor Chris Salerno says a couple from Queens had recently purchased the home and was about to move in.
Salerno says his wife spoke with the previous owners, who had just turned over the keys to the new buyers about a month ago. He says they were heartbroken over the news of their former home.
"The girl was crying," Salerno says. "Obviously you know, this is the house they built, they put so much love into it, you know, they brought up two children here, only to find out it's burnt to the ground."
There is no word yet on what caused the fire. Fire officials say the cause is under investigation.
