Police: Knife-wielding robber may have struck again in Plainview
Police believe a knifepoint robbery in Plainview fits a pattern of several others across Nassau.
Investigators responded to a Subway restaurant on Old Country Road in Plainview before 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Police say a man walked in and displayed a large knife. He took off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
News 12 spoke with the owner of the sandwich shop. He said his employee is OK but shaken up.
Police are now connecting six similar robberies in Nassau, all of them at cash businesses. Detectives say most of the robberies have been occurring at night.
So far, no injuries have been reported.
Detectives say the suspect's face is always covered and that he wears gloves, which makes identifying him a challenge.
Ashley Phalen, the manager of Buffalo Grille in Plainview, told News 12 that she's nervous after hearing about the nearby robbery.
"It is definitely unsettling especially now that it's next door to where I work every day...It's nerve-racking," she says.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incidents to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
